Rotary Narromine
The Rotary Club of Narromine Inc.is a volunteer organisation that raises funds which are then donated to organisations such as the cancer support group, Narromine Rescue Squad, and Lifeline. It also supports young people by sponsoring local youth to attend Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), an annual week long course to develop their leadership abilities.
Most of the funds raised by Rotary in Narromine are through the operation of a food van at local events such as market days, race meetings, the local agricultural show, and air pageants.
As well as donating to local charities, Rotary funds are used to develop facilities for the local community. One such facility is Rotary Park on the banks of the Macquarie River. This is now a major sporting venue for the town, and a popular recreation area. At present a major activity for Rotary is development of the wetlands. This will see what was largely a waste land area turned into an attractive picnic and recreation area.
Meetings in Narromine are at 6.45pm each Tuesday at Narromine United Services Memorial Club and new members are always welcome.
